www.science.gov
From www.science.gov, users can find over one
thousand government information resources about science. These
resources include: technical reports, journal citations, databases,
Federal web sites, and fact sheets. The information is all free, and
no registration is required. While this web site is broad in scope, one
can find a wealth of information about Familial Dysautonomia in the Health
and Medicine category. By entering the search term Familial
Dysautonomia and selecting the desired categories in Health and Medicine,
for example, a user will be directed to sites for NINDS (National
Institute of Neurological Disorders and Strokes), the MEDLINEplus Medical
Encyclopedia, and to journal articles in the PubMed Database, a site of
the National Library of Medicine.

Genetics
Home Reference
The National Library of
Medicine has launched a new consumer web site called Genetics Home
Reference to help people understand genetics and its relationship to
disease. The new NLM site is written at a high school reading level
and is intended for use by people who don't necessarily have any medical
training. For those who have forgotten what they learned about genetics in
school, there is a quick refresher course called "Help
me understand genetics." Other features include a glossary of
terms and links to information about clinical trials. The National Library
of Medicine is a part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), which is
included in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. As a result
of the Dysautonomia Foundation's efforts, FD is now included in the list
of conditions referenced on this site. Click
here for information regarding FD.
